I got that information from a marriage cert I purchased, which is how I know the wedding took place at Liverpool Presbyterian Church. Using Ancestry and other sites, I am unable to find out anything on either of the two fathers mentioned on it. Andrew Lyle Ross has a Scottish sound but found nothing. Samuel Ellis is not showing for Liverpool either. The child from this marriage, my gt gf was named Joseph Charles Braithwaite Ellis, a bit of a mouthful, but probably after some relative of his. Braithwaite is quite unusual, possibly Yorkshire or Cumbrian link ? What do you think ?? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This looks to be the Alice and Robert in the 1851 census aged 21 and 14 respectively. Maybe her parents were John and Mary and not Elizabeth (looks like Elizabeth was unmarried as well). hth David Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. On looking at the link you sent it appears there are two Alice Wallbank's born within a year of each other living in Preston. The one you sent the details on Alice from Cotton court is the wrong one. My mistake sorry, such an easy mistake to make assumptions etc. The other Alice Wallbank bap. 20 May 1831 shown parents living in Holdens or Holdings yard Preston is my Alice, as The address corresponds with a birth certificate of a child she has.in 1852. So Alices mother is Elizabeth Wallbank, and I think her husband is called John Wallbank. I am trying to find John and Elizabeth on 1851 or 61 census, but no luck so far. Many thanks once again. Author: kmorgan01 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52629/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Any help gratefully received. Have come to a brick wall with my maternal gt gt grandparents. Joseph D Ellis, s/o Samuel, a clothier and Mary Jane Ross, d/o Andrew Lyle Ross, a foreman in a factory married at LIVERPOOL Presbyterian Church.Their ages are unconfirmed but believed to be born around 1830-1840. Have birth certificate of only child (my gt gf,) Joseph Charles Braithwaite Ellis born 1864 Liverpool which seems odd having been married for 9 years. Perhaps father was away at sea/war/prison ?? I did come across some Merchant Seaman's records for the 1850's, but don't know how to confirm if they belong to my ancestor or not. The 1901 England census does indeed show Angeliki as a child of John (George) and Susan (Gertrude) born in Turkey whereas all of the other children were born in Manchester. Not sure if they were back in Turkey for a visit or an extended stay, but will be looking into that as well. A search of FreeBMD (Thank you for the lead to that new source) for Patrinos turned up many with that name, including several likely descendants of John and Susan. But it turned up no record for the 1907 death of John (aka George), so wonder: is there a "beta" update of the FreeBMD that is not yet available? I will indeed order birth records for George (born 1892) and Helena (born abt 1888) from the GRO. Thank you very much for your help. Author: tsiv7175 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52622.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: djl79ewing Thank you. According to 1901 England census, both George Patrinos born 1892, and Helena are likely to be descendants of my ancestor John (also known as George) Patrinos. Helena was also name of my great-grandmother, sister of John. As noted by your fellow responder, same 1901 record indicates Angeliki born about 1894 in Turkey, though uncertain was during an extended return there or a short visit, so now I have another new, interesting puzzle to work on. The FreeBMD is a tremendous new data source, evidently still a work-in-progress, with much more to come. Thank you, again, for your help.
