Unfortunately I have already pursued this possibility, but the Charles James you mentioned is buried on Isle of Wight with his brother and probate records showed he left money to his brother suggesting he had no family. My grandfather (Charles James Walker) is buried in Widnes and probate records show he left all his money to my grandmother. I thought I had removed all the records from my tree for this but i'll double check. Thanks Ian Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: iggz2002 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52673/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Trying to locate where my grandfather was from, and his date of birth. I have a copy of his death cert. showing he died aged 75 at Whiston hospital in March 1956 (Charles Walker). Also have his marriage cert. but he put his name as James and appears to have taken about 10 years off his age (presumably because of a large age gap?) Marriage cert. states his father was a farmer called William, but I have no idea if this is true. Censuses and birth records are no help as the name is too common, and I have no idea where he was from. Medical records cannot be released for 100 years so they are no help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: twhalley41 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.england.lan.general/52668.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi Sandra, Yes as far as I know it does say Hawker. My dad has almost all the birth certificates (apart from the children who didn't live) and they came from originals from the children themselves so I know the birth certificates and name Clarke are correct and the children all said that their dad was a hawker (one of the children was my granddad). Also Angel Street from the 1911 census is correct as the kids all knew this address. We actually went past the old site of the address for my granddads funeral. My dad has searched this for years and years and even went to the registry office in town but they couldn't find anything with those names. It is so frustrating, I would like to do this for my dad. He is getting older now and would love to trace back a bit further of his grandparents. Somebody mentioned they heard coming over on a boat from Ireland to Liverpool but I cant find anything for that either and not sure if it was John and Ellen or their parents. All the children ended up in Buckley hall after the last child was born. The last one I have is eveline who was born in 1925 but not sure if there were any other children who didn't survive just after that. I know there were 2 sets of twins, one set being Ellen and Wilmot but can't find another set. I think I need to win the lottery and hire somebody!!
