I can think of no reason why they would not show up - as all the local records seem to be complete for the period - except that possibly they were Quakers. Where were Quakers married and buried? Were records kept and, if so, where might I find them? Specifically my search is for the family of James Heyes Esq. I found a newspaper snippet that he died in 1820 at Knowsley, but can find no trace of a burial, marriage, birth or anything else in church records. His son was born in 1793 (I know that from the 1841 census) in Knowsley so he was certainly living there then. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I found - Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1858 Surname, Forename(s); Surname, Forename(s); Church / Register Office; Registers At; Reference HAILWOOD, John; LILLYRNAN, Mary A; Bolton Register Office or Registrar Attended; Bolton RO/15/133 The statement "Bolton Register Office or Registrar Attended" means that the civil aspects of the marriage were conducted by a Registrar rather than by an Anglican clergyman. This means that the marriage took place either in the Register Office or in a non-Anglican chapel, i.e., Methodist, Unitarian, Catholic, etc. If you look for births of children with surname HAILWOOD and mother's surname LILLYMAN, there are 10 hits, all from the same sub-district of Bolton (Halliwell). There are no twins. They could be from the same family. Looking at Maureen's list and comparing it with the LancsBMD list, I think that Maureen's source has just taken the number of Jane's age and not the units. I think Jane would have been 11 months old in 1871. Jim Lancaster (Bury, Lancs.) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
