That's Ancestry's general picture for "Ooops we can't find what we want, but in the meantime here's a nice picture for you". The 1857-58 register is OK, the 1858, 1858-59 registers are missing, the 1859 is there. Suggest you report a missing image (or two). It's also possible that he had two jobs all along. **If** he had his own premises, he might have used the front room for a little shop - I've seen it where the wife is recorded as a grocer, when her husband is elsewhere. When he gets too old or whatever it was, he takes on the job of grocer in the census. I'll bet it was still his wife that did the work! In your case, it may be that the wife's occupation was never entered - that happens quite often - so there may be no evidence of the grocery. Have a look in trade directories - that might help if it really was his own business. In 1891, very little change had taken place on the roads - plenty of horses and carts and I think they were wooden wheels until well into the 20th century - I wonder if the rubber-tyred wheels that I remember from the last horse-drawn wagons (coalman and green-grocer) were actually second hand off petrol or diesel lorries? When was she born (obviously not 1976!) and when did she die (and was it in England & Wales)? All those will affect whether she's visible or not. Adrian
They've been digitised on Ancestry for a few years now. There was an error in uploading and indexing them, so perhaps they're fixing it..... Hello Ruth, I have had a look at the Cathedral's website which states the records have been digitised and are available on Ancestry so Mary's suggestion might indeed be the answer. Robin My mother always maintained the address she was at until they were bombed out in the 1940 blitz. When I found grandparents and looked she wasn't there. So I asked her - oh no I was at the farm in Cirencester for a few weeks (which of course covered the date in question. So it is always possible that you grandmother was away that night, her details may have been mis-transcribed by the enumerator. If the one born in 1917 still alive if not and you have the death certificate you can ask FMP to look for then and see if they can unlock it I would suggest writing to fmp at [email protected] and asking them about Garden Street. Hi Penny, Same here, I couldn't find the discount box to apply my 10% discount that I received in an email, so paid the £24.95 and emailed FMP. Next day I received an email crediting me for the difference. Regards, Babs Astley. Today's Topics: 1. FindMyPast Discount Voucher for 1939 Register (Penny Trueman) 2. I left it until today and ended up having a look at the 'faq's' page, discovering that the 'voucher box' was on the home page, near the bottom, not, anywhere on the 1939 register pages. I entered my given code and got 'No longer valid'. ????????????????? Hi Jamie When I said subscribers I meant a paying subscriber, not just registered If you were not a paying subscriber or signed up to the 1939 news mailer you are probably not due a code, no harm in asking them though Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 05/11/2015 14:31, Jamie Arnold wrote: > Thank you for the reply. > > Well i am a subscriber to Find My Past although haven't been a paid > subscriber for 3 months. It could simply be that he was getting older and needed something a little less strenuous. I did think it an odd place to ask you to put in the code – the bottom of the 1939 credit options page was where I put in mine. The cost of the records was then changed. I would have expected it to have been entered when I was giving the site my card details and it was just by chance I saw the discount box at the bottom before I got into the card details page. Fiona

I am a current subscriber to FMP and was given a discount code after signing up for 1939 news mail. I paid my £6.95 to access a record but there was nowhere I could see to insert my discount code. I have emailed the team at FMP todaay to ask why I have not received my discount and could they rectify this issue. regards Julie Dalton On Thu, Nov 5, 2015 at 1:47 PM, Nivard Ovington via <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi Jamie > > The code was sent to all existing subscribers to findmypast for 25% > > There was also a 10% voucher for those who signed up to the 1939 NIR > news mail > > Both were from Findmypast > > Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > > On 05/11/2015 13:43, Jamie Arnold wrote: > > Hello > > > > Did Find My Past email its subscribers giving a discount voucher that > > can be used for the 1939 Register or was the discount voucher offered by > > some other source? > > > > The reason i ask is that i have checked my emails and spam box but have > > not found any emails from Find My Past that mentions a discount voucher > > for the 1939 Register and i am a member of Find My Past but am currently > > not a paid member so i wonder if only current paid up member is offered > > the discount voucher for the 19369 register hence why i haven't received > > an email from Find My Past offering a discount voucher. > > > > Jamie. > > > > :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: :-+-: > > Buy or sell family research items on the GEN-MAT-UKI mailing list. Hello Did Find My Past email its subscribers giving a discount voucher that can be used for the 1939 Register or was the discount voucher offered by some other source? The reason i ask is that i have checked my emails and spam box but have not found any emails from Find My Past that mentions a discount voucher for the 1939 Register and i am a member of Find My Past but am currently not a paid member so i wonder if only current paid up member is offered the discount voucher for the 19369 register hence why i haven't received an email from Find My Past offering a discount voucher.
