    3. AV software probably won't object to the email because it's only a link. So far as I can see there is no malware in the email - you only get infected if you click on the link, and I'd hope that your AV would stop the site infecting you when you got there. It probably would allow the browser to start to bring up the site as it would not be able to decide that it will a malware site until it got there - it's not psychic, after all - but it should stop the site from do anything bad. Do NOT try this at home!!! Ah ! that reminds me I am deep in love, For stupid rhymes with Cupid. I love upon the beach to stretch at ease And read the works of Tupper. Tupper ? Ah ! that reminds me of bread and cheese, For Tupper rhymes with supper. I love to stand, when day has long since fled, And watch each rising billow, Billow ? 2. Barb Ontario Canada via
    3. A SHAM DETECTIVE. At the Manchester City Police-court, HENRY CUMMINGS, who described himself as an engineer, has been charged with having falsely represented himself as a detective. During the past three months, the prisoner had been repeatedly seen about the platform at Victoria Station, and generally at night. Some time ago, the night station-master asked him his business, and the prisoner, producing a pair of handcuffs, replied that he was a detective in the employment of the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, having come to Manchester from Barnsley. After that the railway officials believed that he was what he represented himself to be, till one of them asked him to produce his warrant card. He was unable to do so, and was then given into custody. In defence, the prisoner said that whenever he had been at the station it was only as a passenger.

    3. Hi, I know it's not Rootsweb policy to moderate the mailing lists, but to be honest, with the scale of spam emails going the way it is, I and others really do think it would be a step in the right direction as it would keep the mailing lists free of such mailings, it would save the admins the job of getting all the spam emails removed from the archives etc etc etc. I've been exceptionally fortunate on the lists I admin that we've had basically no problems in this regard, probably because they are low number lists. On county lists the number of subscribers are going to be vastly more and so those lists are going to be far more prone to it. Also, it's not just the matter of making sure our AV software is up to date. Webmail accounts are being targeted by hackers, so no AV software is going to prevent that. Once a hacker has successfully logged into your account via webmail, if you use that service to store your contacts, then your contacts are going to be targeted, no doubt about it. If Rootsweb mailing lists are included in your contacts, then they're going to be targeted too. Kind regards, Jon

    2. Barb Ontario Canada via
    3. BIGAMY BY A WOMAN. – At the Oldham Police-court, SOPHIA ALLCOCK, a middle-aged woman, was charged with feloniously intermarrying with RICHARD GREENWOOD, on the 10th of June this year, at Christ Church, Oldham, her husband, JOHN ALLCOCK, being then alive, to whom she had been married on the 26th of February, 1872, at the parish church at Heaton Norris. It appeared that the prisoner had been married 20 years ago to a person named PORTINGTON, who died, and she subsequently married ALLCOCK. It was stated in the defence that she led an unhappy life with the latter, and a separation took place on ALLCOCK disclosing that he had another wife and several children. He stated that the marriage ceremony that had taken place between him and the prisoner was not binding when he left her, and under that impression she afterwards married GREENWOOD. The prisoner was committed for trial to the Manchester Assizes, bail being accepted.

My advice here is to make sure that  you not only save/ back up your tree as normal but that you also save/export as a gedcom file - this way you have a hope to transfer your tree to another program should the need arise down the track.  I have a similar problem with my old version of "generations" which does not work with the newer Windows.
