Hi all, Thanks for clarifying. That is my g-gt's wedding in Liverpool October 1869. The ship is the Techumseh (I have the actual original document) . Yes that would also be my private tree on Ancestry. At the moment I am not subscribed to ancestry, but am subscribed to rootsireland. I will check for an Irish wedding for Bridget and William Waters. If anyone needs a lookup in rootsireland please ask me. Thanks, Joan -----Original Message----- From: June Dowling via Sent: Monday, January 04, 2016 6:52 AM To: Robyn Clarke ; [email protected] Subject: Re: [LAN] Lookup requested in the 1871 census forWHITES from Wicklow living in Liverpool Robyn and Joan, I remember being involved with Joan's original query initially. Not able to find your Annie White's Marriage to a Higgins in 1869 in Liverpool as suggested to me .....I did however, find a Marriage dated 17th October 1869 of ANNIE WHITE 26yrs Spinster and MILES COLGAN 30yrs, Bachelor, Mariner from Ship "Tear?" Now, I am hoping to learn if any siblings of my Ann White who was a servant in Liverpool in the 1860s may also have come to Liverpool. Ann White married in Liverpool on Oct 7, 1869. It seems that her father James Whyte, a school teacher remained in Crecin, Wicklow. I will list below the siblings of Ann WHITE(born May 7, 1843) with their baptismal dates in Ballyconnell, Wicklow. If someone could find one, or some of them in Liverpool, possibly Everton, in the 1870s I would appreciate it very much. Dear Joan, There is a John White in the Workhouse, Liverpool, a Hawker, unmarried, of the right age (31 – he wouldn’t be 32 until August), born Ireland, in 1870. There is a James White married to a Catharine Rawlinson in 1870, residing in one of the courts on Marlborough Street, Liverpool in 1871, occupation labourer in a bottling store, birthplace, Ireland. [Although his age is a year out.] In 1871 a Patrick White is visiting Bridget white at 14 Newbold Square, Bury; he is an Ag. Lab. And is from Ireland (although again, his age is a year out). Bridget is 50, from Ireland, so could be an aunt. Apart from Bridget’s family, there are also several boarders, mostly Ag. Labs, from Ireland. There is also a Patrick White lodging on Deacon Street in Everton, his age almost illegible but looks like 2- (1?) (twenty-(one?) working as a cotton porter – although his birthplace is given as Liverpool. " Now, I am hoping to learn if any siblings of my Ann White who was a servant in Liverpool in the 1860s may also have come to Liverpool. " "1. John White, - Aug 28, 1839 2. Bidy, or Bridget White - May 12,1841 3. James White - June 22, 1845 4. Maria White - Feb. 6, 1848 5. RAILWAY ACCIDENT. An extraordinary railway accident happened on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway at Accrington. The trains from Liverpool, Blackburn, and Preston, before reaching the station, are taken on to the viaduct leading to Burnley, in order that tickets may be collected. At the junction of the arches, which are elevated 12 or 14 yards above the streets beneath and overlook the top of the highest houses, are a large number of points, the main line to and from Blackburn making a sharp curve at this spot. Shortly before the arrival of the Blackburn and Preston train, at 8 50, on the evening named, a van had been shunted into a short siding adjoining the points and main line. Not having any breaks, it rebounded from a carriage and went on to the main line. The train named came on as usual, and the passengers were suddenly alarmed by being thrown from their seats and against each other. The train had come into collision with the van, which it broke to atoms, and sent the shattered pieces against the boundary rails of the embankment, about a dozen yards of which were demolished. The engine was thrown over, and the line torn up. By 10 o’clock the next morning, the main line was got into working order. __________________________________________________________________________ barb, ontario, canada.
A LIVERPOOL PAPER reports the death from scarlet fever, of MR. HUGH JONES GLADSTONE, the second surviving son of MR. ROBERTSON GLADSTONE, and nephew of the ex-Premier. The deceased gentleman, who was born in May, 1843, has long been associated with athletics in that neighbourhood and his manly figure was seldom missed at local contests. WILLIAM POWELL, cabinet maker, of Manchester, has been charged with leaving a child of his to become chargeable to the parish of Birmingham since last April last. Detective DANIELS apprehended the prisoner in Manchester, where he was earning good wages. This was the third time the prisoner had been similarly charged. He was sent to prison for a month. _______________________________________________________________________ barb, ontario, canada.
