Hello Friends, Yesterday I received in the mail a copy of my g-g-grandfathers Soldiers Application for Pension. One of the questions that was asked on the application was where was he at the surrender ? His answer was that he was at Natchitoches at the July , Puly , or Poney Springs. Does anyone know about where this Springs would be located and it's correct name ? The handwriting is not clear but I do believe that the first letter of the Springs is a P or J. Also, I have 2 more questions: #1) Does someone have knowledge of a cave in the hills or woods around Robeline ? #2) Does someone have knowledge of CAREY'S BATTALION (Company D) that was from Many--Sabine Parish Louisiana and later consolidated with the CRESCENT REGIMENT at Shreveport,La. ? I would appreciate all the help that I can get to resolve these questions. One last note. There is a lot of good information on these Soldiers Applications. I sent my request to the State Archives in Baton Rouge,La. and I had my copy of the application within 7 days. I was very pleased with the quick response and thrilled with the 10 pages of information on the application --- the cost was $5. Jackie Wyatt Wiltcher
