Campti Notes Source: Natchitoches Times Sept 23, 1910 Submitted By: Kay Brown Campti, Louisiana, Sept. 20 --- The Campti High School opened today with a good attendance of 100, and fine prospects of an increase of twenty - five. On account of much sickness in the country, attendance fell a little short of expectations. This school is gradually improving every year, and will soon equal any in the State. The new local board escorted Mr. AE Bath superintendent of the parish, in an automobile to the building, where he delivered an address on education. Mr. Sellers, principal of the school, gave some advice and outlined the work for the year in a very impressive manner. T.K. Giddens, president of the board of trustees gave a lengthy talk stating that the board had formed themselves into a boosting club, and that the school would have to grow if hot air and mountain scenery would do any good. Misses Era and Leta Perot left Sunday for Natchitoches, where they will attend the State Normal. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Prudhomme and daughter Aneta left Sunday for Natchitoches, where Aneta will attend the Normal. Miss Louise Prudhomme left Saturday for Laplace, where she will teach this session. Miss Joe Mayben returned from Shreveport Sunday. Mrs. Cora Mayben has returned from Bayou LaChute. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brown spent Sunday here with relatives. Mrs. Johnson arrived here Sunday and has charge of the music and drawing classes at the high school. Mr. A. Bath, Superintendent of the Parish Schools, was at the opening of the high school Monday. Mr. D.J. Hyama was in town Monday.
