    1. [LANATCHI-L] What's New at the Website

    3. I've stayed up late tonight working on some new things for the Natchitoches website. First: There's a new automated, searchable query system which I hope will help us in the future. The surnames you enter for your query will be searchable and also allows for a direct response to any query so we can see if you've had any answers. The response feature also allows you to change your e-mail address for your query. Right now the system is quite new so the search feature may take awhile to get more queries entered into the system. I have entered all the 1998 queries. If you posted a query prior to 1998, you will be able to veiw them but they won't be searchable.... so you may want to re-enter them into this new system. Second: There is also an automated, searchable system where you can go to enter obituaries and biographies and view others that have been entered. Please enter something if you can so we can see how they work. Third: The main page has a link to an old 1895 map of Natchitoches Parish. (look at it when you have plenty of time because it takes awhile to load) Fourth: There's a new link (also on the main page) for the Louisiana Confederate Pension Application Records at the Archives. It even has a form, price list, and address so that you can send for an application if you are fortunate enough to find an ancestor (or his widow) listed. These records are great and tell you more personal things that you might not know about them and are well worth the money. ($5.00 for 9 pages) Hope you enjoy the changes, Glenda Myers
