Hello Ella, thanks for your reply. The informant on William's death certificate is his son and all the information is correct. This is the correct William Lawson. The 1901 census gives William's age as 38 and the 1911 census gives William's age as 49 and Margaret's as 31. Their marriage certificate of 1901 states William aged 33, bachelor and Margaret aged 21, spinster. Although William's age is a bit out, the names of his father and mothers maiden names are correct. William being a bachelor is also incorrect as this was his second marriage, the first being to Margaret's sister Elizabeth in 1889. I believe it was still illegal to marry your sister-in-law in 1901 Scotland, so that would explain William not officially mentioning his previous marriage.
