Leonard, The only other possible source would be court records if the mother had brought a suit for maintenance of the child. Other than that, in that time period, there is almost no chance of being able to find the father's name. The kirk was no longer running society, so it's unlikely that any kirk session records would mention it. I have a similar situation where I do know the father's name, but it still was useless as there was no way to pinpoint him. In a city, without any parental or age info, it is impossible to find the correct person.
