Margaret Lawson (mother) is the informant on the birth certificate. Written in a different hand to the rest of the certificate so I presume it is Margaret's handwriting. In the first column, mum's name is given as Williamina Shaw or Lawson. I have always taken this to mean her mothers maiden and married names. Regards, Leonard

Hello Rhoda, I have the birth certificates for the first five children plus my mother. All have William listed as the father and he is also the informant on four of the five with Margaret the informant on the other.. Scotlandspeople.gov.uk do not have the images available after 1912 presumably because of the 100 year rule for births, so I don't have birth certificates for the others. Working from his death certificate the last child was born in Sep 1917. Four of the children died in Scotland and their death certificates have William as their father and informant. Three of the children aged 4,3 & 1died within 4 days of each other in October 1918 during the flu epidemic. The one aged 4 had a twin sister who lived to 91.
