Hello Lanark List & Greetings from Canada: I was very fortunate to find out about my Great X's 2 Grandfather Angus Anderson just last year. After thinking my Dad was the last of his Anderson line, I found many relatives to add to the family tree through the help of people such as yourself, people in Nova Scotia & Ancestry.ca This new branch of the Anderson tree is from Nova Scotia, Canada. One of my 'new' cousins is now at university in Edinburgh and her Mom (Teri Anderson) & Dad will be travelling from Nova Scotia to visit her next spring. Teri has asked me if I could possibly find out about any Anderson relatives still living now in Scotland and I told her I would ask the Lanark list for their help - Teri would like to hopefully meet any living relatives or do some 'graveyard' touring next spring when she visits her daughter in Edinburgh. Here is the info I have so far - my Great X's 2 Grandfather Angus Anderson was born May 8th, 1817 & his Christening date is May 18th, his wife was Ann MacDonald born 1825 & died 1876 in Nova Scotia - not 100% sure if Ann was born in Scotland because on two of the Canadian census one lists her as born in Scotland and the other says she was born in Nova Scotia. Angus came to Nova Scotia we believe in 1853 according to info handed down over the years although we cannot find any passenger list for them, so we don't know if he came on his own, or with Ann or with siblings. Angus' parents were Martin Anderson (born 1785) & Sarah McDonald (born 1789) and Angus was born in Barony, Lanarkshire, Scotland, May 8th, 1817. Angus' siblings were: Mary (1811), John (1813), Hector (1815) and Alexander (1818) and we do not know if any of these siblings accompanied them on their voyage to Canada - so I was hoping maybe someone can dig up some info on these siblings, hopefully their descendants are still living in Scotland or also hoping to find where they are buried. Is it true that Barony is now called Glasgow? Many thanks to all for any and all help, Gail Anderson Leonardo [email protected]
