    3. Given that it mentions 'confirmation' rather than 'probate', and that it says it was 'sealed' in London, this must be a will that was dealt with under Scots Law and only 'sealed' in England in respect of some property she owned in England. It is possible to get the full details from the National Archives of Scotland, though it means ordering a copy direct as wills in 1958 are not on Scotland's People. 3. Quite so Anne Hence my post to flag it up The wills & testaments indexes on scotlandspeople only goes up to 1925 so its well worth checking the Probate calendars for England and Wales (1858 to 1966) as many Scots died having assets in Eng/Wales For example a quick search for keywords finds Lanark* = 9,442 hits Scotland = 209,973 hits In most cases they refer to a person who died in Scotland most born in Scotland Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 29/12/2013 02:23, Anne Burgess wrote: > Given that it mentions 'confirmation' rather than 'probate', and that it > says it was 'sealed' in London, this must be a will that was dealt with > under Scots Law and only 'sealed' in England in respect of some property > she owned in England.
