Linda, Rather than a birth date, might it be a christening date? It is engraved A.N. 27/6/94 (inherited it before 1994). I was told that it probably belonged to my great-aunt Agnes Nisbet, but she wasn't born until 16 August 1895. My grandfather was born in June 1893. I thought it might be a christening bracelet, despite its size, but can't find anyone in the family with this birth date. Is there someway I can find out all babies born on this date in Lanark? I've tried searching for Nisbet for Glasgow in 1894, but with no luck. Hi Linda I have inherited old jewellery also and have found it to be challenging to trace its linage. So a few questions you may have already thought of or not. Firstly, do you mean mm? Are there any makers marks on the bracelet which may give an indication of when or where it was made? Could it be an engagement or a present for any other significant reason given the date on it? Are there any other family names beginning with N which it could relate to? What was your Grandfathers first name, could it be any other of the siblings in the family? Hi Ken As far as I can remember it came through my Nisbet family, as I was told it belonged to my great aunt (who was not born until 1895),whereas the date on it is 27 June 1894. I have no other ancestors whose surname begins with N. My grandfather was Archibald, but he was born 3 June 1893, so I think 27 June 1894 would be too late for a christening? I think it might be worthwhile me taking it to a jewellers to see if they can date it for me. Maybe it is older than I think it is. It has no markings. Thanks for your help.
