Roberta, Where is your Archibald and Catherine? There are several Archibalds in Pennsylvania in the mid 1700's and also the name is associated with a branch in Canada. It sounds as if you are talking about a family in the Lanark area. The branches we have knowledge of in  North America have their origins from the isle of Bute.
