Good morning all, This is a very relevant topic for me right now. I love the pedigree building program on Ancestry so I bought Family Tree Maker 2010. It wasn't quite as user friendly and not quite as computer friendly either. After about 24 hours my computer crashed and the error message suggested it was newly installed software. I removed it and didn't try again as Ancestry advised. So now I have to decide between trying another program for my PC or using my son's old MAC. Any suggestions and/or reviews would be appreciated. And if it's not too off topic, what does it mean to go parallel with programs? Thanks, Jeanne In a message dated 8/14/2010 12:15:12 P.M. Almost all Win based programs run on newer Mac's if you install Boot Camp which is a software component that comes with every MAC. I have both Win and Mac PC's but prefer Mac for stability and run Legacy on it with no problems. Anything that runs with XP will run on a MAC. Is it hard to set-up? No, easier than Win7. Hi Jeanne, I installed and tried FTM 9.I did not find it friendly. Some one on the list (I can't remember who) Said they had called FTM and had been told there was quite a few problems with Version 9. I called FTM and received version 10 at no charge. I installed it but still found problems with it. I went back to version 6 and I am quite happy with it. Would be interesting to hear comments from other listers Margaret Ontario Good morning all, This is a very relevant topic for me right now.
