Hi everybody, I'm a new member of the list, researching my ancestors in Lanark. Right now I'm concentrating on the McGill family from Penicuik and Culter. A very recent find was that my ggg grandfather John McGill [born 1793 in Penicuik] was the Master Blacksmith at Culter House in the 1850s and 60s according to the Census . It was a real thrill to learn where he worked and what he did. And what a beautiful place to call home! John McGill was married to Christian Johnston(e), daughter of Robert and ?. His parents were Thomas McGill and Elisabeth Greig and he was one of 10 children. I've had great success with Ancestry.com and the LDS site but there are still a lot of blanks to fill in and I look forward to talking with all of you. Jeanne
