Hello Bob I had a look on the Ancestry censuses for 1851 and 1861, but no luck. What was James Reid's occupation? That might help to find him on the censuses. And are you sure that Alexander father's name was 'James'? It isn't always safe to rely on the name that a bride or groom gives for their father (or mother) on their marriage certificate. My Great Grandmother gave her father's name as 'Donald' when it was 'James'. Hello Rhoda Thank you so much for the lookup ,James Reid was an Iron Foundry Labourer ,and the son Alexander Reid was at his marriage an Engineer's Driller. . I found the marriage of his Parents Marriage on IGI number M 116516 I am suspicious as it gives the date as Sep 1845. I also could not find Alexander on the 1881 census when I had Ancestry, I have let it lapse at the moment as I will be visiting Scotland on the 10th of March for two weeks . Alexander gave 68 Muslin Street Glasgow as his address on the marriage certificate , This is an address that I have Elizabeth McIntyre 's family living at but she is living on Old Dalmarnock Road Glasgow . Thank you Again Bob
