Hi Ella and Jim, As an aside about Shotts Iron Works. The famous railings that used to stand in front of Hamilton Palace were made at Shotts. They were a work of art and survived two world wars (when everyone had to donate their railings for the war effort) but were taken down in the early 1970s when the M74 motorway was being built! It's called progress. I've tried to attach 2 pictures, one of a tramcar with the palace railings behind, the other is a close-up of part of the railings showing the exquisite workmanship. If they don't appear send me an email and I'll send them on. Ella, if you plan a trip over this year, pack some sunshine! All the best, Jim Leonard, Motherwell.
