Brightsolid, the online publishing and technology group that is now wholly owned by publisher DC Thomson, has struck a deal to digitise up to 40 million pages of historic newspapers for the British Library. The company said the 10-year agreement will deliver the most significant mass digitisation of newspapers the UK has ever seen and will make millions of newspaper pages available online and in the lbrary's reading rooms. Spanning three centuries and including 52,000 local, regional, national and international titles, the British Library holds one of the world's largest collections of newspapers.
