Hello Frank, Yes, toll keepers did move around. I have James Whyte & wife Jane Callan, both from Crawfordjohn, who were at Jarg Toll, West Calder in 1851, Roundy Hill Toll, Glamis in 1861, and Jane widowed at the Toll House, Eassie & Nevay in 1871. Interestingly, Jane was the toll keeper, not her husband. Janet
