Hello Anne Janet Reid M, S, Hamilton died in New Monkland Poorhouse on Oct 15th 1859, at the time of her death she was a widow of James Reid she was aged 32. While in Scotland in March I went to the Lanark Archives to look at the New Monkland Poorhouse records ,Sad to say they only had the Register when she was signed in giving a Page number of a book that they do not have. Also there is a James Reid who died in the New Monkland Poorhouse in May 1856 but his age is given as 23 ( could this be a mistake in age) Another kind person on this list found a Alexander Reid aged 13 on the 1871 census, born in the county of Lanarkshire. He was in the Mossbank Industrial School in Springburn, Glasgow. I one time found on the 1881 Canadian Census an Alexander Reid occupation Engineer aged 29 born Scotland with a wife Naomi also 29. I cannot find Alexander on the Scottish 1881 and his occupation on his Marriage to Elizabeth was Engineer's Driller. Hope this Helps Bob
