Hello: I've tracked the family of James Chalmers (b. abt 1817 Torphichang, Linlithgow) and Mirrion Russell Chalmers (b. 1822, d/o John and Margaret McAlpine Russell) in the 1851, 61, 71 Census material with addresses on Gallowshill Road and Sharnotshields Farm, Cambusnethan. In 1881 the family is still at Sharnothshield farm, but the mother seems to have re-married with new last name White. Children of the family were: Ann (b 1844), Margaret (1847), David (1849), William (1851), James (1856), Marion (1858), Margaret (1860), and John 1863. I would be interested in hearing from others researching this family and would be glad to exchange information.
