Hi List, Jeanie (Jane) Mitchell, born Glasgow 1863 of Irish descent, lost her father (Francis) to Typhus in 1868 and, according to the tale relayed through her granddaughter, became an orphan. I have found a Jeanie Mitchell aged 7 in the Glasgow census 1871, as an inmate in the Girls Industrial School in Rotten Row. Could this be her?
