He brought a photo I have not previously seen and we hope someone can assist.             He lived in Dundee and is dressed on tartan trousers with a dark tunic with white stripe down centre with buttons, white belt with "flap pockets" over hips.             The back reads "taken in 1899. I was a private in 3 Batt.
