Hi Michael, I have PATONS in my line, mostly at Fenwick Ayrshire, right next door to Kilmarnock. My last of that surname was my ggggrandmother Agnes Paton. 1784-1857, born at Kilmaurs, also near Kilmarnock. Agnes was a gggranddaughter of the Covenanter Martyr Captain John Paton. It'd certainly be interesting to know of Samuels' parents and before.
