Hi Glen, Thank you very much for looking. I have the 1841 census for this couple – 1841 census Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire - Aughtifardle-gate 649 Ed 8, page 4. H Aitken 35 M Scotland Gardiner Ann Aitken 35 F Scotland David Aitken 13 M Scotland Cotton HLW Ap John Aitken 12 M Scotland James Aitken 11 M Lanarkshire, Scotland Daniel Aitken 7 M Scotland William Aitken 2 M Lanarkshire, Scotland Alexander Aitken 10 days M Lanarkshire, Scotland In the above census James jnr should be 5 yrs the child that would have been 11 was Alexander but he died 1 day before the second Alexander was born. And I have the 1861 census for them. Ann died in 1865 and James and the last remaining children left in Scotland emigrated to Australia. It is her birth that has me stuck. I have already gone through www.ancestralscotland.com/roots/ and spent my 30 credits. I may have to use the credit card Thank you again for trying. If she was still married it would not be listed under her maiden name. Not sure of her children's names but if you could give me more details, I'll see what I can dig up. Also if you go to www.ancestralscotland.com/roots/ fill in the details, it will get you 30 free credits to search for her to find her parents. Glen
