I wish I could do Queen Street to the Mitchell in ten minutes! It's just under a mile, and slightly uphill, so twenty minutes would be more like it. Best route is actually along Bath Street - more direct, and better aesthetically. If anyone is interested, there's an exhibition of William Simpson's watercolours at Provand's Lordship in Glasgow. You can see and download some of them at this website: http://www.glasgowmuseums.com/venue/showExhibition.cfm?venueid=11&item id=91 I've downloaded some of them, including "The Drygate, near the Duke's Lodgings, Rotten Row in distance 1843", because I have ancestors who were living there around this time.
