Good morning Listers, Since last posting my enquiry to the List regarding John Harvie CHRISTIE, Judge Advocate of Lanark, I have found out a little more information about him. In the Gentleman's Magazine for 1800 I found the death of his wife:- 1800 Obituary with Antidotes of Remarkable Persons- At Fitzroy-house, New Road, (London) of a decline in her 26th year, Mrs Gordon Christie, wife of Mr. John Harvie Christie of Edinburgh , advocate. I have also been informed that there was a daughter born to the couple, though I know nothing about her. John Harvie Christie was also arrested in France for spying. I am now hoping that SKS can help me with John's wife. I would appear that she was a GORDON, though I have not been able to find her first name. There is a suggestion that she maybe related to Sir Alexander Gordon of Earlstoun. Around 1813, John Harvie CHRISTIE, settled in Mauritius, where he became a land and slave owner. Any information about John's life in Scotland would be very much appreciated. Also, information about his wife Mrs Gordon Christie, who died at the very young age of 26 in 1800, (born circa 1774).
