Margaret, There is a 15 minute bus service between Buchanan Street Bus Station and Glasgow International Airport (not to be confused with Glasgow Prestwick 30 miles down the road in Ayrshire). When getting on the bus if you ask the driver to let you off at the bus stop nearest Central Station because generally after the bus comes off the Kingston Bridge it goes in the opposite direction to Argyll Street. From memory however it comes off the bridge on to Bothwell Street. Anywhere in Bothwell St is roughly a 10 minute walk for a fit adult dragging luggage from St Enoch's Square and the nearer to Central Station the nearer to Buchanan Street which as you know goes straight down to St Enoch's Square. I have used this bus many times to and from the airport. There is usually more than enough space to stow luggage at the front of the bus and there are specially designated seats near the front for older or disabled passengers. The drivers also tend to be very friendly and helpful.
