I know this is not really a subject for the List but I think this scam message (which I too received) from Jean's Gmail address is being sent to people who have emailed Jean off-list, and whose email addresses will be in her computer's contact list. I have contacted Jean off-list on at least one occasion. Gmail users were subject to a phishing attack towards the end of last year. There may have been others since. It sounds as if Jean should contact Google asap, if she has not already done so. For details about the Gmail account 'Phishing' scam, see: http://www.hoax-slayer.com/gmail-phishing-scam.shtml. Judging by the number of Listers who have written me in the 6 hours since my original posting, many (if not all) of you have received this scam message. I agree with the comments below. But I have never written Jean directly, nor have I given my e-mail address in my postings. The harvesting of e-mail addresses by the hacker must have been achieved directly on the List, somehow.
