I am trying to track down members of my Grandfathers Family. My Grandfather was the youngest sibling and the only one to emigrate to the United States, as far as I know. His parents were: William Mitchell (Abt 1884), & Elizabeth Semple (Abt 1848). His siblings are: William Mitchell (abt 1871) Elizabeth Fyfe Mitchell (1 Apr 1874) Married to Robert Alexander Morton Hillcoat (abt 1872) Angus C. Mitchell (Abt 1877) John Mitchell (Abt 1878) Ann Ferrier Mitchell (Abt 1884) Married to John Templeton (Abt 1881) James Semple Mitchell (12 Apr 1888) (My Grandfather Married to Catherine Henderson McEwan 1890) All were from Barony, Calton, Glasgow except my Great Grandmother Elizabeth Semple , who was from Arkleston, Renfrewshire. The Grandchildren of Ann Ferrier Mitchell were the youngest of their generation, and didn't know most of their Grand Mothers siblings. With My grandparents in the United States, there was very little contact with their siblings or their families. The 1891 census is the only one that shows all family members. Any help in my search would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Bruce Mitchell
Hi Bruce Have you tested your DNA through FamilyTreeDNA.com and joined the Mitchell project. It may be the only way to find related Mitchells because there are so many out there. It seems they all have a William and a John. My Mitchells came from the south of Lanark in Wiston & Roberton and Carmichael Parishes.
