However this event is before the start of civil registration in 1855, so no marriage certificate exists. You can view and download an image of the original record from Scotland's People, but see below. > 01/09/1845 REID James HAMILTON Janet/FR1866 M Airdrie or > New > Monkland /Lanark 651/00700392 View /Paid Order In fact you will almost certainly get no additional information from the original entry. I have several marriage entries from the New Monkland parish register between 1840 and 1850 and with one exception the wording is invariably along the following lines, "xth Sabbath. Collected from yyyy and zzzz both in this parish 19/6". The exception is ".... yyyy in this parish and zzzz in the parish of Shotts ....". The amount collected varies from 3/6 (three shillings and sixpence) to 19/6 (nineteen shillings and sixpence). I am fairly sure that the date in the original record will not actually be 1 September 1845 but just September 1845. (It is definitely NOT 9 January 1845!). I would not recommend paying money to download this particular entry from Scotland's People. > Would the above give me a copy with parents names. No. The only way you can get the names of their parents is from their death certificates, assuming of course that they died in Scotland. HTH Anne

    3. Hi again Freecen is far from complete so your target may not be on there as yet If you post the details you have perhaps we can find them for you Give the information you already have, places of birth, years of birth and where you found them in later census or documentation Also any children, when born and where Ancestry have the 1841 to 1901 census transcribed, and whilst the transcription is not the best it is quite malleable For example there are 25 James REIDs with a wife Janet in 1851 If you can identify your family you can then download the census page from scotlandspeople with the minimum of wasted cash Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hello Anne > > I have Janet,s Death death certificate kindly provided by Rhoda several > months ago.
