    3. Hi, looking to find some more information on John and Christina ANDREW (Mennie). They were married 23 NOV 1865 Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland. I have found two children against these parents in FamilySearch; Ann - born 5 Sep 1866, Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland and David - born 21 Sep 1868, Middle or New Parish, Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland My reason for searching on John and Christina, is that I have an Ann Miri ANDREW who is my wife's ggmother but that is all we know about her. I have found a family named Andrew who arrived in Maryborough, Queensland in Oct 1878 on the ship "Caroline". This family consisted of; John 48, Christina 38, Elizabeth 17, Ann 13, David 11, Robert 4, Christina 2 and Maggie Inf. Ann's Queensland cemetery records show her as being "Annie Miri GLASS (Andrew)" and with a birth date of 1865, so the dates/age is very close. Any and all help would be most appreciated. regards Phil... Qld, Aus...

    3. Hi Phil The following family appears (on Ancestry) in the 1871 Scottish Census living at 12 Gray's Lane (back), Glasgow Parkhead, Lanarkshire. John ANDREW, head, 33, born Paisley, Renfrewshire, Iron Foundry Mashter (sic) [I think this may be 'Master' and that he employed 60 men and 5 boys] Christina Andrew, wife, 34, born Aberdeen Elizabeth Andrew, daughter, 12, born Glasgow Anne Andrew, daughter, 4, born Glasgow David Andrew, son, 2, born Greenock, Renfrewshire George Andrew, son, 8 months, born Greenock, Renfrewshire I am unable to find them in the 1881 Scottish census, so this MAY be the family that went to Australia, although the ages of the parents conflict with those on the passenger list. The George ANDREW born in Greenock in 1870 (see 1871 Census above) was the son of John ANDREW and Christina MENNIE (I looked at the image of the birth registration on Scotlands People). So, the family in the 1871 Census above was that of John ANDREW and Christina MENNIE And a Christina Menni ANDREW is on the birth index of Scotlands People. The birth was registered in 1875 in the district of Camlachie, Glasgow. 'Menni' is how the name appears on the list, but may well be 'Mennie' on the Register, the image of which may be downloaded on the site. This Christina was the only Christina Andrew whose birth was registered in Glasgow in 1875 or 1876 so this seems to link the family who went to Australia to John ANDREW and Christina MENNIE. It still doesn't prove that your Ann was their daughter. Their Ann doesn't appear to have been registered with a middle name at birth. But people can adopt middle names later in life. Is the 'Miri' short for Miriam? 3. Hi Rhoda, tkvm for all of this. I have been struggling with this lady (Ann) for quite a while now. I also sent this mail into the Qld list just to see if anyone else had any information. I have actually now got the information from her obituary which shows the scottish lass is not mine :(. Mine was born in England to a Henry and Miri (explains the name). I had seen her name on the shipping lists but the dates didn't seem to match. Looks like it is her though. tks once again. rgds Phil.....

    3. Hi again, Phil Re my earlier message, I meant to say that the birth of Christina Menni[e] Andrew was the only birth of a Christina Andrew registered in Scotland, not just Glasgow, in 1875-76. None in 1877. Rhoda
