Hi Bob You don't say the time frame but I would think the Mitchell Library would be a good starting point That is assuming there are any surviving records Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > Hello List > > Does SKS know how to search the records for Mossbank Industrial School , > to find records of children and where they were sent to when they left the > school. > > > Thank you in Advance > > Bob
Hello Nivard I am searching for the son of James Reid and Janet Hamilton the couple I was researching last week. Alexander Reid was born Lanarkshire abt 1857+- as when Rhoda found him in 1871 he was 13 in the Mossbank Industrial School. I have been reading about the children who were sent to Canada . I was looking on Family Search and found an Alexander Reid in Canada in 1881 occupation Engineer . When my Alexander marriedin 1883 his occupation was Engineers Driller, I was wondering if he had been sent to Canada by Quarriers Homes . After he married in 1883 my Alexander worked as a Coal miner in several places before staying in Polmont ,Stirlingshire. Thank you in Advance Bob
Hi Bob Always worth checking out every line of research of course However the Mossbank Industrial School was for destitute children with no parents or the children of parents "living themselves in vice and profligacy, leave their offspring to grow up in ignorance or become vagrants and criminals" Do yours fit that bill? The Alexander in Canada, does he appear in the later Canadian census ?
