Hi Nivard, Many thanks for both your responses to my question about my GG grandfather in WW1, and for sending the medal record. Yes, the person you identified is my ancestor. There is obviously a discrepancy between the date on the medal record and that listed by the CWGC. The next time I visit the Scotland's people in Edinburgh, I'll enquire about the War Deaths indexes. Thanks for that guidance. As part of my ever on-going learning curve, can I ask how you accessed the image of the medical record, and also what your source was for identifying James's military details? Again, many thanks for your help. It's much appreciated. Steve __________________ Broughty Ferry Scotland
To whom it may concern...... Gentlemen, sitting here in my lovely office in Brisbane Australia with the sun blasting through the windows I was alerted to the arrival of mail....'You have email!'. Unfortunately, for me, it was yours - not mine, and to save you future inaccuracies I thought I might make you aware of your undoubtedly small addressing error. Best regards, Alastair Macdonald.
