Ruth, Here is an excerpt from an 1825 letter from my GGGrandfather's brother, an unemployed weaver who emigrated to Upper Canada in 1820: 'My opinion of this country is just what I have said before - a good assylum for people who cannot make a living at home and of this class we may place both the weavers and the stockingmakers.'
