    3. Don, Historically nowhere east of Elgin was ever considered part of the Highlands. Indeed arguably nowhere east of Nairnshire was considered the Highlands. Margaret, I don't think there is an official line but the simplest description would be to draw a line from say Dumbarton to Stonehaven (Aberdeen). Although my father always said it was everyplace higher or lower than the place you were before (it didn't make sense to me either).
