Hi Maisie, It is a memorial stone to William Miller that is the Glasgow Necropolis. He is actually buried in the Miller Family Plot in Egypt. That is Egypt, Tollcross, Glasgow in the Corbett St Cemetery but I believe the lair is unmarked. billy
Billy, Yes, I read on the Google site about William Miller that he was buried in Tollcross...in a family plot, though he was supposed to be destitute. Would this lead you to believe that his family, at least, must have had enough money to have a plot. As a family, we had no money, so is a plot the same as a lair, as the one where my father is buried in Sighthill Cemetery, Springburn, is 'full up' with the maximum six bodies, I believe? There's only my brother, a niece and her family, and then a cousin in Larkhall and his family left of the big family I came from, so my brother discouraged me from erecting a headstone for my father's grave in Sighthill...nobody visits cemeteries anymore, he said, plus Sighthill was a hangout out for vandals. It would be a waste of money to have a stone erected. I was thinking of a flat one, so that there would be no inclination by the neds to topple it over. The only monumental masons I know near Sighthill is Mossman, still on High Street, I suppose. I never heard back from them when I asked for estimates. You live and learn as I never heard of Egypt, Tollcross, and had to go ferreting around again: http://www.theglasgowstory.com/image/?inum=TGSE00941 Maisie -----Original Message----- From: Bravaal via Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2016 11:44 AM To: LANARK@rootsweb.com Subject: [Lanark] William Miller Hi Maisie, It is a memorial stone to William Miller that is the Glasgow Necropolis.
