Ruth to inform you, Mike Boyd is the Historian for the House of Boyd Society world wide, he travels to Clan gatherings around the world. I have been on the Ayrshire list since its inception from memory, I have advised him on many occasions that he was using so much unconfirmed data etc. As far as RAOK all he has to do is order in the films to his closest FamilySearch Centre and if certain portions of his research are not filmed there is the opportunity to enquire through Paul Parton the head of FamilySearch in Aus to see if permission has been given or denied for filming of such records. All the filmed records are listed in the Catalogue on the FamilySearch website. Most Scottish records are government controlled and most of what he posts is Irish, he only has to contact the relevant Irish historical document holders. Private researchers have their cost structure for assisting people in o'seas locations as do the airlines and any accommodation resulting from you wishing to do it yourself. A RAOK for someone taking up the research for him would amount into endless hours IMO! I have been on the Ayrshire list since its inception from memory, I have advised him on many occasions that he was using so much unconfirmed data etc. As far as RAOK all he has to do is order in the films to his closest FamilySearch Centre and if certain portions of his research are not filmed there is the opportunity to enquire through Paul Parton the head of FamilySearch in Aus to see if permission has been given or denied for filming of such records. All the filmed records are listed in the Catalogue on the FamilySearch website. Most Scottish records are government controlled and most of what he posts is Irish, he only has to contact the relevant Irish historical document holders. Private researchers have their cost structure for assisting people in o'seas locations as do the airlines and any accommodation resulting from you wishing to do it yourself. A RAOK for someone taking up the research for him would amount into endless hours IMO!
