    2. Hi Guys...Ive been following this "no emails" with interest..research has led me to London so some days ago joined London forum Subscribed and confirmed, how long do you have to wait for your confirmed to be confirmed and therefore able to post a query?? one may suspect this huge delay may result in no email queries. All that aside love the forums and the answers, tips and suggestions from like-minded people Cheers Rick Australia -----Original Message----- From: Anne Burgess Sent: Wednesday, June 28, 2017 3:01 AM To: lanark@rootsweb.com Subject: [Norton AntiSpam]Re: [Lanark] No emails The switched on folk are mostly on http://www.rootschat.com./ Anne From: Fran Stewart <franstewart@optusnet.com.au> To: lanark@rootsweb.com Sent: Sunday, 25 June 2017, 23:43 Subject: [Lanark] No emails Is evrybody on Facebook and Ancestry, have had no emails for a week? 3. Hi Fran Well judging by the number of posts to some facebook groups, no, not on facebook, unless they are on one of a vast number of supposedly family history groups, most of which are pretty dreadful, those posts I see are more often from novices to family history The lists are a far better way of researching and conversing IMHO I suspect the lack of posts on all lists is due to the vast number of ways that people can communicate these days, and the vast number of records available online nowadays compared to a few short years back Many of the questions once asked of SKS are now easily answered with Mr Google etc (who often finds the answer in a previous rootsweb post) Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 25-Jun-17 11:39 PM, Fran Stewart wrote: > Is evrybody on Facebook and Ancestry, have had no emails for a week? > Looking for my Bryce and Swan families circa 1800 Glasgow.

    1. [Lanark] DNA
    2. Bob Mitchell
    3. I am researching the surnames Mitchell, Ritchie, Clerkson, and Fraz(s)er from Lanark. I have posted my autosomal DNA on Gedmatch.com which is free site. My kit number is T322142. If anyone is searching for the above surnames and had their autosomal DNA tested (standard test for 23andMe) you can upload your DNA to Gedmatch.com or contact me for details. 1. [Lanark] Cuthel in Glasgow - and upcoming trip to Scotland
    2. Maisie, Your link below couldn't have come at a better time, and I'm off to read it right now. My grandmother, Agnes Graham Cuthel, was born in Glasgow in 1878, and came to the US in the early 1880s, and was here before the infamous Blizzard of 88 in NYC. I'm going to Scotland for the first time later this month, along w/my husband, brother and sister in law. So I'm wondering if there are any pretty distant cousins of my grandmother still in and around Glasgow. I'll get out my Cuthel family info and give more names and connections, and hoping to find out more before we leave. Some other names are Campbell (yeah, nothing too common, eh? ;/) and Reid and Graham. 3. Anne, Have you tried accessing Google newspapers, I am sure the Glasgow Herald was on this site.. Jenny -----Original Message----- From: Anne Burgess Sent: Friday, June 02, 2017 6:13 PM To: lanark@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Lanark] William Miller, accidentally drowned in 1840 I can see some of them, but not all because there are some available only the Glasgow Libraries members. The obvious one (Glasgow Herald) doesn't seem to be searchable, so without an exact date of death it would be a very long job to search for an item that may not even be there. Collections range from rare books and manuscripts to newspapers and online databases. One of my g.greats drowned in the canal at New Monkland. Found an article regarding this in a newspaper at the Mitchell Library.
