Hi Ruth, The lair registers for the Southern Necropolis have been filmed and you can view them in the Glasgow and Family History Room at the Mitchell Library and they also have the lair plans. You can order in the register films at your local LDS Family History Centre. It's in the middle of the city. BTW neither South Lanarkshire nor North Lanarkshire Councils will be able to help in this instance, as the Southern Necropolis isn't in their areas. HTH

    3. Ruth, I'm not real sure of my geography, but try the South Lanarkshire Council. They were very helpful in locating a lair in West Cemetery in Hamilton. If this is their domain, you can count on them. www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk or try www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk Good luck, Jeannette ----- Original Message ----- From: <ruth.enns@shaw.ca> To: <lanark@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 08, 2010 1:36 AM Subject: [Lanark] Grave: Southern Necropolis > How can I find a Lair in the Southern Necropolis, when I only have the > name, > date of death, & name of Undertaker, R. 3. I understand from Mitchell Library, that St Andrew's by the Green have a record of a christening on 10 Jan 1808 of John CAMPBELL, son of John Campbell soldier of 71st regiment.. I have searched Scotlandspeople with my remaining credits and there is no record of this birth. The Mitchell told me that they .hold early baptism records that do not appear within the Old Parish Registers and they have compiled a database of these. Is there any way I can get a copy of this particular birth/christening?.. Thanks a lot Gay..

    1. Re: [Lanark] St Andrews By the Green
    2. Iain McKenzie
    3. St. Andrews by the Green was an Episcopal Church, so its records would not have been included in the Old Parish Registers. The Glasgow City Archives ( in the Mitchell Library building) hold the vicar's handwritten record of all the baptisms he performed. I can't remember the date range of that notebook, but it did include births in the 1770's. The archives were in the process of digitising the St Andrews on the Green records. There is a brief mention of the assistance being given by GWSFHS at http://www.gwsfhs.org.uk/content/gcaprojects.aspx Your best bet is to contact Glasgow City Archives. Their details are at http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/Library_Services/The_Mitchell/Archives/churcharchives.htm I hope this helps Kind Regards, Iain McKenzie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gay Fielding" <gayze@tpg.com.au> To: <lanark@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 07, 2010 2:20 PM Subject: [Lanark] St Andrews By the Green >I understand from Mitchell Library, that St Andrew's by the Green have a > record of a christening on 10 Jan 1808 of John CAMPBELL, son of John > Campbell soldier of 71st regiment.. > > I have searched Scotlandspeople with my remaining credits and there is no > record of this birth. > > The Mitchell told me that they .hold early baptism records that do not > appear within the Old Parish Registers and they have compiled a database > of > these. > > Is there any way I can get a copy of this particular birth/christening?.. > Thanks a lot > Gay.. > > > ------------------------------- > > LANARK, SCOTLAND MAILING LIST > > > LIST TOPIC: The discussion and research of genealogy or history > information pertaining to Lanark, Scotland at any point in its history. > > WHEN REPLYING to any list post please remember to snip most of the earlier > message before you post any reply > > LIST INFORMATION PAGE: Contact the List Admin at > lanark-admin@rootsweb.com; or to search the list archives, get information > on subscribing or unsubscribing, or to obtain other useful information to > help you use the list more effectively, please click on the following link > to the list information page online: > > http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/SCT/LANARK.html > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > LANARK-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes > in the subject and the body of the message >

    3. Hi Gaye, I think your Alexander Deck is actually Alexander Dick. In ScotlandsPeople index there is a marriage in 1865 of an Alexander Dick to a Catherine S* ???? in Stirlingshire. Sorry I do not know her maiden surname. John
