Dear Sandy and all -- I would think that with the preponderance of evidence Frank Lambert has come up with that Joseph P. (b. 1793) should be declared a son of John Lambert. By putting Priscilla Lambert (w/o Hiram H. Lambert) in Joseph P.'s (b. 1793) family it is a foregone conclusion that Joseph P. is the son of John. John did state in his will that Priscilla was his granddaughter. Frank Lambert has been good enough to send me some of his papers and I decided long ago by the descriptions of the property deeded to Joseph P. (1793) by John Lambert and then deeded by Joseph P. and Susanna to John P. that they were the same property. Also there is the significance of Joseph P. always using his middle initial and the other Joseph not being inclined to do so. Apparently the initial was important in that family because his brothers used their middle initial also. Family lore has it that Joseph P. is said to have been in the Mexican War in 1847 and I have seen articles stating that. This would mean we are not sure in which family Joseph (b. 1804) should be. New children are being come up with all the time and they are added gracefully to a family. I am sure Joseph's (b. 1804) family will be found but it will take more digging. There were plenty of Lamberts around. Philip is believed to have had two brothers. Has anyone come up with the families of those two brothers? Let's put this matter to rest by putting Joseph P. (b. 1793) in with John's family where he belongs. Then we can move on to where Joseph (b. 1804) belongs. Yours, Lucy in OH from WV
My husband's great great grandfather, ? LAMBERT was born in Blount Co TN in 1830. We cannot find him in a census and have no idea what his or his father's name is. There is a John Ranley, a Joseph, a Henry, and a William in the older generations of this family. I just wonder if there is any possibility of a connection to this Joseph P. who was born in 1804. At least the age is a possibility.
