    3. Has anyone any information on; John Lambert who signed up for Military Service 1676 during King Phillips War when there was an Indian Massacre at Swansee, Plymouth. Re; Subject: [Ma-Bay-Colony] Soldiers in King Philip's War: Later Credits for Military Service: part 53.2 This continues part 53..."from John Hull's Ledger" [those who missed the details..see part 53] ------ King Phillips War 1676 Ipswich [Mass] John Edwards Josiah Briggs Jonathan Lummas Richard Lewis Thomas Bray William Quarles Jeremiah Jewett Samuel Hunt William Story John Gilbert Abraham Knowlton Andrew Peters Christopher Bolls Nathaniel Emerson Nathaniel Lampson Thomas Jaques Andrew Burley John Lambert John Pingry Aaron Pingry Nathaniel Lord Job Bishop I have long suspected that General John Lambert, . died in Plymouth America and not Plymouth England. No one ever found either his or his wife's grave. He was Cromwell's understudy during the English Civil War and for a short time became Military Dictator of the U.K. after Cromwell's son quit and before King Charles II was restored to the Throne. He was jailed for the rest of his life (over 20 years according to the history books) first in Guernsey in the Channel Islands, but transferred to Plymouth, England. Could it have been Plymouth, America? - he was once found in jail with Scurvy wich normally resulted from a long sea voyage (Read Cromwell's Understudy by Dawson) Read; LAMBTON/LAMBERTON/LAMBERT at http://www.AncestryUK.com/LambertonAncestry.htm We have just learnt from the Sister of Lord Lambton, Earl of Durham, that the real heir to the Lambton Estates was William Lambton who fled to America in 1760 and that the Lambton/Lamberton/and Lambert family histories have been covered up. Apparantly, Mark Twain's mother was a Lambton (related to the Lambertons and the Lamberts). Mark Twain wrote "A Yank from Connecticut at the Court of King Arthur" and "The Prince and the Pauper". It would also help explain why John George Lambton, First Earl of Durham, became First Governor General of Canada and was able to negotiate peace with the Americans after the War of American Independence, and independence for Canada under the Commonwealth so easily.
