does anyone know about a Captain Lambert in Quebec around 1700's ... He supposedly owned so much land in Canada that half of Quebec was on his land. The Chateau Frontenac in Quebec was on his land as well. Hi Carmen, Your message caught my eye. I am looking for the parents of my William Lambert, born in Hampshire 1857 or 1858. On his death certificate (died July 22, 1917 in San Francisco), his father is listed as William Lambert of England, mother is Unknown from NOVA SCOTIA. This may just be coincidence. Do you know anything about your Elizabeth? First Hello, John Lambert married Mary Parson? not positive about last name. Had Thomas Lambert 7/7/1849 near Albany, NY Thomas Married Sarah Edith Thuma 8/8/1874 Bear Lake, Manistee, MI. Thomas and Sarah had Emily, Grace, Bessie, Richard, Harold (Harry) and William Andrew Lambert (whom I descend from.) Late 1880's Thomas and Sarah moved to Hill City, SD Where Neltie died 1892. From there Thomas took Harry, Richard and possibly Grace out west to Oregon, or Washington state. Sarah moved back to Michigan where she had my ggrandfather William, 1893. I do know that Thomas died 1/10/1936 in Read Island B.C. Thomas could of been John Thomas Lambert. If any one can help Email me. terry@advcomputers.net tater@atlantic.net
My GGGrandpappy, John Lambert was born in 1770, 96 District, Greenville, S.C. I believe that his father may have been John Lambert of Colleton who served in the Cherokee Expedition (war) of 1759/60 and received a land grant for their service. There also a Joseph Lambert who served in that war. They are listed in "SOUTH CAROLINA COLONIAL SOLDIERS AND PATRIOTS" Compiled by Leonardo Andrea of Columbia, S. C. Are there any other S.C. Lamberts out there that can help me with this dilemma??? Bill Phillips bep@cyberstreet.com

Hello Paula. You say that your John & Susan were born in Ireland. Protestant marriages in Ireland are indexed from 1845. There are two Johns listed in the years 1845-1850 namely: 1846. John LAMBERT, reg. Dublin North, vol. 5, p.92. 1849. John LAMBERT, reg. Galway, vol. 6, p.51. (Catholic marriages are not indexed prior to 1864.) If you knew Susan's maiden surname, the index could be checked for a match. As you evidently do not, you may wish to purchase photocopies of the register entries. These can be obtained from The Registrar-General, Joyce House, 8/11 Lombard St., East, Dublin 2. (You need to quote all the details given above.) They are not expensive, the cost, through an agent in this country, being $15. Peter Wood, Hamilton, New Zealand. P.S. I am a 2nd great grandson of John LAMBERT (chr. Co. Galway, Ireland, 25 Sept 1800), and Jane PEYTON (born Co. Leitrim, Ireland). Unless he had a 2nd marriage, the John whose marriage was reg. at Galway in 1849 is not "mine". ----- Original Message ----- From: Paula.Murphy@paxar.com To: LAMBERT-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, July 27, 2000 8:59 AM Subject: [LAMBERT] John, Susan, Sarah, Margaret Lambert - IRE-> PA 1840's Hello, Cousins! Peter, Thank you for your advice. At this point, I am 90% certain that my Lambert line would have been Roman Catholic as Sarah observed the Roman Catholic rites of marriage, baptism of her children and funeral services (including a High Mass). Unfortunately, the marriage registers for Roman Catholics in Ireland do not go back that far. I am checking with the Pittsburgh Diocese to see if the John and Susan were married in Pittsburgh and whether I can find Sarah's baptismal records. Paula
Hello, Cousins! I am new to your list as I just discovered my Lambert line. This is what I know to date. Sarah Agnes Lambert was born September 1, 1850 in Pittsburgh, PA to John and Susan Lambert who were born in Ireland (don't know where). Sarah married Robert McKeown (son of John & Mary McKeown, born in Maryland in 1837) on August 7, 1865 in the Church of the Nativity on Second in New York City. Margaret Lambert (possibly her sister) is listed as a witness to the marriage and she may have married another unknown McKeown brother as I have an unidentified Margaret McKeown buried in the same family plot). Sometime after the wedding Sarah and Robert returned to Pittsburgh and had three children, Sarah, Susan and Ambrose McKeown. I descend through Susan. Sarah Lambert McKeown died in 1902 and Robert died in 1901. They are buried (along with other family members) in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. If anyone has any information on this family, please contact me to share information.
