Hi Loretta, Do you have info that may place me in the James Sr line. Just a speculation would be appreciated. I'm going to post the Monroe Co Al cencus for Lambert(h) soon so others can use it. One other has shown interest. Do you have all copies of the Lambert/Lamberth news letter. I'm missing 3 or 4 and would really like to get them. Once and while Randy has some back issues but last I checked he didn't have these. Are you familiar with JamesLamberths in Screven Co Ga 1820 & 1830. Arthur
Hi again. I'll be glad to share what I have with you from Monroe Co. The Monroe Co Lanberts really multiplied. The reason I have so much on Lambert(h)s in Ga & Al is because I've been forced to use process of elimination. I've looked at the John Sr & James Sr lines for years and can't seem to place my John Luke in either. I may be missing something. I'm looking at James in Screven Co Ga in 1820 & 1830. Do you know anything about this line. There doesn't seem to have been any work done on this line. I'll send cencus I have on Monroe Co soon. Arthur
Hi Janice Very interesting. I spent couple days looking at your family. I'm sure if we connect it will be in England. What I have is probably duplicate of what you've already got. I don't have them in 1840. Don't know how I missed them. I have your John in 1850 cencus. Living, what appears couple houses away is Mary Lambert 32 Al with her 2 children Catharine 13 & John 1/12. Probably your John's sister-in-law ?? Also near by is Sarah Lambert 30f Al with children Jesse 6, Barbary 4, & Joshua 1. She is living with a Joshua Willson family. In 1860 I have your John. I'm not giving details for I'm sure you must have it. Living near by is A Hugh Lambert 7, living with Alex McDongal family. Also the Sarah I mentioned in 1850 must have died and her 3 children are still with the Joshua Willson family family. They seem to have inhereted $700 each. I don't have them in 1870 and that bothers me too. I thought I'd done a good job taking off cencus thru 1870. Good luck Arthur
Dear Becky and Sandy -- Since the discussion with Frank Lambert I have been checking my records and it would appear that Priscilla Lambert belongs with Joseph P. Lambert b. 1793. Most of that is from my Grandmother Martha R.A. (Stowers) Lambert of her remembrances. She had three different sets of papers and I will quote you the one from July 26, 1942, found by my Aunt Rose Lambert in 1982. I have typed the letter as written. "July 26, 1942 My father's name was Rufus Stowers. My mother's name Sarah Elizabeth (Lambert) Stowers. Dad's brothers were Warden, Andrew, John, Gordon and Simon, _______. His sisters Mary (Stowers) Thomas and Christina (Stowers) Wymer. My Mothers brothers were Addison (Addie) and George. Her sisters Emma (Lambert) Thomas and Mary (Lambert) Bays. My Paternal Grandfather Larkin Stowers and wife Rebecca (Lambert) Stowers. She was a sister to my Mother's father. And my maternal Grandparents were Hiram Lambert and wife Priscilla Eve. Grandmother's Brothers that I recalled were Uncle Lewis Lambert, Uncle Guy, Uncle Ed and Uncle Addison Lambert. Her Sisters Aunt Martha (Patsy) Lambert Tracy and Latter(?) (Lambert) Conway. I know nothing of my father's ancestors further back than Grandpa Larkin on the father's side his wife was a sister to my mother's father, Grandpa Hiram. Uncle Addison (Grandma's Brother) married my Dad's youngest Sister, Christina. Aunt Mary, my fathers other Sister married Samuel Thomas & my Mother's Brothers, Uncle George Lambert died in the Army Civil War. And Uncle Addie Lambert married Julia Cecil of Mercer County. Mother's Sister Emma married Billie Thomas of Boone Co. and her Sister Mary married (James) Uncle Jim Bays of this Co." The part about Larkin Stowers wife, Rebecca, being a sister to Hiram Lambert as yet to be proved. My only answer to this is that perhaps Garret had two Hirams. Too much of what Grandma Martha has written has proved to be true to disregard this statement entirely. Priscilla is among those named in the suit of the children of Joseph P. Lambert (b. 1793) by Isaac Lambert in 1878 as being out of the County. Lo and behold I found her in Lincoln Co. WV in the 1880 Census as being with Rufus and Elizabeth (Lambert) Lambert and listed as "Priscilla E. 58 years old, mother-in-law, wife of Hiram Lambert. I am beginning to believe we do have the wrong Joseph P. as one of John's children. What do you think? Yours, Lucy in OH from WV
Thanks, but I already have them. Newton Harp Lambert came to Al. sometime between 1860 and 1881 and so far I have no guess as to when exactly. It appears no one has this line of Lambert's so far but me.These walls will come tumbling down one day though. Thanks, Lynn ----- Original Message ----- From: <Lamberthag@aol.com> To: <LAMBERT-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 05, 2000 12:55 PM Subject: Re: [LAMBERT] Ga,Al researchers??? > Hi Lynn > > The only thing I have in Coffee Co is John M Lambert & family in 1850 & 1860. > This is too early for your Lambert's. Sorry to post this to the list but you can see why its necessary.... I had an email from a chap in England about an ancestor of his (Mary Lambert) who was from Aysgarth in Yorkshire. There might be link to my tree. And then my hard drive wobbled and deleted my emails so I don't have an address to reply to. If you are my mystery correspondent - I'm not being deliberately rude - I just can't reply!! Please re- mail me Liz Hamilton
Thanks Arthur, I'll take you up on that census data. I've not tried to verify all the data yet. Still too much of my LOVE line to verify. Good Hunting, Love, Lou
Hi Lynn The only thing I have in Coffee Co is John M Lambert & family in 1850 & 1860. This is too early for your Lambert's. There's also a John S Lamberth in 1860. I didn't see any Lamberts in 1870. Let me know if you'd like me to send these cencus. Arthur
Hi Lou Thanks for info. I've been looking at your family history in Monroe Co Al for many years. I have cencus of your family 1830 to 1870 if you need to check anything. You probably already have this though. I've been in Lambert/Lamberth Assoc for many years and corresponded with members but no help. I think I'm working in virgin teritory as I haven't found any one working in my line. Arthur
Hello Lambert Listers, I would like any information on the John Robert Lambert family from Horncastle, Lincolnshire England. John was born in 1841, died in Kansas in 1917 According to John's Death Certificate, his father may have been Joseph. I have no other information on Joseph. Any help on his father, mother and siblings names, would be most helpful Here's a link to my webpage for more info on what I do have on this family http://www2.southwind.net/~terryw/LAMBERT_KS.htm Regards, Ann Lambert
Dear List, Someone on one of the lists I subscribe to said they could get checks in Sterling to pay for British research. Of course I can't find the message now that I need it. If it was you or you know who this person is, kindly write me (off list is fine) so I can make arrangements to pay for research in Britain. Regards, Linda Hamid linda_hamid@hp.com >
Arthur, the Lamberts I have found so far are from NC, TN and TX. I have also not found our Lamberts as Lambeth. However you never know! Good luck in your genealogy search!
My great-great grandfather was John Rufus LAMBERTH/LAMBERT from Clarke CO., AL. He married Caroline GILBERT daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Burton GILBERT. I have them first on the 1840 census through 1880. I cannot find John prior to 1840 or after 1880.His father, John LAMBERT(H)Sr. is on the 1816 tax rolls of Clarke Co. John Sr. was born 1796 England. He was in the United States by 1811. He married a lady from Coffeeville ca 1815. Daniel GILBERT married 2nd., Matilda GILCREAST/GILCHRIST. John and Caroline's children were: Andrew J.,(A. J. (m) Mary Frances HARPER; William M. (m) Jerusia HAWK; Rufus (m) Lavenia SKIPPER; John James (m) Jane BENSON; Ann Aurulia (m) Henry Hillard COX; Daniel Lee (my g-grandfather)(m)Mary Mollie HARVILL; Pembrook S. (m) 1st Alice SMITH, 2nd Ellen PAYNE Bishop, and lastly Mary Elizabeth (m) W. A. MCCORQUODALE. I have the children and grandchildren of some of the above mentioned people. Possibly John LAMBERTH had at least two sisters one married a CALHOUN the other a John BUMPERS. I have chauncery court records saying a John/Jack LAMBERT(H), from Clarke Co. was committed to a lunatic assylum in 1895. I have contacted Bryce and other hospitals but no records on Jack Lambert(H)can be found. My John LAMBERTH (Jr.) is on Clarke Co. census with his wife and children from 1840 until 1880 then he vanishes. His wife, Caroline, died in 1910. She and several of the children are buried in River Hill Cemetery, Clarke Co., AL. Daniel Lee LAMBERTH married Mary "Mollie" HARVILL , daughter of Wilson HARVILL and Darcas MATTHEWS. They had the following children: Edward F., Maude, Kheva (Key-va)(my grandmother), George, and Albert Pugh. Albert Pugh was born in Clarksville, AL., the rest in Salitpa. According to the Meridian, MS census, Daniel, Mollie, and children were there in 1900 and 1910. In 1912 they were in Sherman, TX., 1920 in Ardmore, OK., and finally Wichita Falls, TX. I have quite a bit of history on some these people that I will gladly share. Thanks, Janice
Arthur, My husband has a connection to a Lambert who was in Alabama at one time. I have very little information, but I will tell you what I know. JOHN RANLEY LAMBERT, SR., b. April 16, 1852 in Mississippi, d. March 15, 1917. in Sutton, Nevada Co., AR, m. Emma Augusta Waddle, on Oct. 16, 1878. He. was the son of ? LAMBERT, b. April 22, 1830, in Blount Co., TN and RACHEL PARTHINIA JOHNSON, b. Aug. 22, 1830 in NC or IL. They were married before 1852, but I don't know where. They were living in Alabama when their second child, ELIZABETH M. (BETTIE) was born on Feb. 6, 1855. John's father died and his mother remarried in 1860 to JOSEPH WILEY GHORMLEY. John, Bettie, Rachel, Joseph, and Rachel's brother, ROBERT (BOB) GHORMLEY moved from Alabama to Arkansas in 1874. ? LAMBERT sold some cattle and was on his way to St. Louis to put it in a bank there (so the tale goes) and he disappeared and was never heard from again. We would love to know his first name and siblings, but he's our brick wall. That's our Lambert/Alabama connection.
