    1. [LALLY] New group set up to replace this Rootsweb one for LALLY
    2. Wendy Howard
    3. Following feedback from my previous post (see below), I have set up a new group at groups.io to replace this Rootsweb list which will be disappearing soon. You will find the new group here - https://groups.io/g/lally-surname If you want to join the new group, please go and do so, and participate in discussions there. I look forward to seeing you there. :-) Wendy LALLY Rootsweb list admin/owner ---------- Original message --------- From: Wendy Howard <[email protected]> Date: Sun, Jan 12, 2020 at 2:04 PM Subject: The future/fate of RootsWeb Mailing Lists You are receiving this email because you are subscribed to a Rootsweb mailing list that I administer. As you can see below, the mailing lists at Rootsweb are going to cease functioning soon. If you would like to continue being a member of some sort of group on the topic of this list, please post back to the list where you're seeing this and say so. This list is extremely quiet and rarely sees any activity. Is there any point in continuing? Have you found a better place to exchange information that you can recommend to the other members of this list? - post and tell us about it if you have. If you feel there is still a need for something, no other suggestions are put forward, and you are prepared to participate as a member, I'm willing to make an effort to create a new forum in a suitable place. I'm not going to do all the work and have not activity from its members, so do think about it before replying. Suitable places include Google Groups (which act like mailing lists and message boards combined, and you don't have to have a Google account to be there, but it helps), and Facebook. If you have another suggestion, please let me know. Please take care to ensure any replies are sent to the mailing list, not to me personally, unless there is an administrative issue you wish to raise with me. It would be nice if the list went out with a flurry of activity as we all share our latest discoveries before it is turned off. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. All I had was a paper cutting among papers held by my late grandmother who died in 1953 referring to the fact that John Peter Lally had at some stage prior to her death (I don't know the actual date of the paper article) decided to go to Mass on All Saints Day and as a result of that decision he missed his plane. The plane crashed and all people on board were killed. I don't know why my grandmother had that particular paper cutting. His father was purportedly Matthew Lally and I could not find any trace of a Matthew Lally in my family tree so I had to conclude that I was not related to that particular branch to my knowledge. Author: Contribution Surnames: Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lally/28.93/mb.ashx Message Board Post: MINERAL RIDGE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard, Ohio for Michael T. Lally, 65, who passed away Saturday evening at Hospice House, Poland, Ohio with his family at his side . Michael was born Feb. 5, 1949, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Clark) Lally. He retired in July of 2008 from Owens Corning Manufacturing as an electrician. He was a member of the church and had donated his time as a driver for the American Cancer Society, taking cancer survivors to their appointments. Michael was a true "Jack-of-all-trades" - there wasn't anything he couldn't fix or at least try to. His hobbies also included woodworking, but most of all he loved boating. He would take his boat out as often as he could, and he especially loved boating on Lake Erie. Besides his mother, Elizabeth, Michael leaves his wife, the former Kathleen Sayers, whom he married Aug. 2, 2008, and five children, Thomas Edward (Terri) Lally of North Lima, Katherine Elizabeth (Steve) Bero, and Kimberly (Mark) Russo, both of Boardman, Ohio, Michelle (Matt) Monroe of Hudson, Ohio and Jeanne (Dan) Beck of North Lima, OH. He also leaves three stepchildren, Kathy Ann May of Warren, Ohio and Jason J. Gromley and Jeremy Stephen Gromley, both of Niles; two sisters, Cindy Hallquist of Poland, Ohio and Annette O'Connell of Salem, OH; one brother, Brian Lally of Poland; as well as 15 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Thomas, and one step great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday morning at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society of Northeast Ohio - https://www.facebook.com/ACSNortheastOhio or the Hospice House in Michael's name. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes Mineral Ridge Chapel. 3. Hi Alice, You've been a member of this mailing list for a long time, longer than I've been its administrator (I took over this list in 2007). In that ENTIRE time, each and every post to the list has had information at the bottom telling you how to unsubscribe. Sending a terse note in all-capitals to the list is not the best way to do it. It could even be considered to be rather impolite. I have unsubscribed you now.
