    3. Hi everyone, I had been told sometime ago by someone (don't remember who) that the Ruston Daily Leader would not give permission to use their obits on the archives. I came across their website last night and decided to ask them to reconsider, explaining the USGenWeb Archives, what we wanted to do, etc. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as the saying goes. Today I got a very nice response from the editor giving us their blessing to use their material on the archives!!! It seems there was a misunderstanding when they were approached before. They thought whoever asked permission was asking THEM to do the collecting and submitting of the material! He said if that was not the case, then certainly we had their permission. He suggested using the microfilm copies at the Lincoln Parish Library or the Louisiana Tech Library, as there had been a fire at the newspaper office in the late 1960s that destroyed most of what they had there. But he said people were welcome to come by the newspaper office and use what they had left if they wanted to. Of course, if you're not in the Ruston area some of the larger libraries may also have the microfilm, or can get it for you on interlibrary loan. Also, some of you probably already have obits on your family members. If you do, now we can use them! If you do go to the libraries, just remember to make a note of the date of the issue when you copy something so we can give proper credit and source information. So start sending in those Ruston Daily Leader obits, articles, etc.!!!! Let's make the Lincoln Parish Archives a valuable research tool for everyone. Thanks, Peggy
