Folks, In my previous message regarding the Absalom Autrey kin, I included information on Abraham Reed who married Absalom Autrey's daughter, Martha Ann. I mentioned his father, Jonas Reed, as serving under Gen. Sam Houston at the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. Excuse me! Due to the time of the posting, I didn't realize I had typed in error. I was thinking of the Autrey who served at the Alamo, and just typed what I was thinking instead of what I was reading. I knew I should have kept my eyes open while typing.:) "He was the son of Jonas and Susan (Dykes) Reed. His father served under General Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836 to help secure the freedom of Texas." This was taken from the book "ABSALOM AND ELIZABETH AUTREY AND THEIR DESCENDANTS With A Section on Thomas Norris, page 115, submitted by the descandants of this family. Now, you history buffs, can breath again, take a deeep breath and exhale. Thanks for the reminder there is no record of a Reed serving at the Alamo. Just count it to being sleepy.
